King tiger pleco (Hypancistrus sp. L066). King tiger plecos are a variable patterned species also known as the scribbled pleco that has a light base and dark bands and lines. The breeders originated from Brazil, where the species in the wild is threatened by a newly constructed dam on the rio Xingu (Xingu River). Adults get to around 6 inches in length and are omnivores and are not picky eaters. In an aquarium they will feed on sinking cichlid pellets, pleco chips (algae wafers), gel foods like Repashy’s Soilent Green and Bottom Scratcher, and frozen foods (brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and bloodworms). The fish does better with wood in the aquarium. It need wood fiber in its diet to thrive. It is an active fish; it will regularly hang on the aquarium glass, the surface of a rock or leave. It is a very good looking catfish. It loves to forage thought the aquarium day and night. They do well by themselves in small planted aquariums, or in small group in larger planted aquarium. They will require small hiding place to hide and feel safe, like a cave. This fish will adapt well to Hard and/or Soft water, Ph of 6 to 8 and temperature of 75 to 85. This fish is considered peaceful and will do well in any community aquarium. It is not known to be a plant eater.
