Hygrophila Compacta, this plant originates from Asia and will adapt to a variety of water conditions. It is considered a mid ground plant. This plant will spread fast and has dense leaves formation.  The leaves are long and wide. It is a fast growing plant that must be trimmed frequently. New shoots will continuously grow from the stem and make the plant look bushier.

 

This species will propagate is by side shoots and cuttings and replanting them in the substrate.  All plants are sensitive to copper, Hygrophila Compacta is no exception. Be aware about the type of medication you are introducing to the aquarium, especially chemicals to control snails infestation, those are usually copper based and should not be added to a planted aquarium

 

This plant will benefits from the additions of CO2 and fertilizers.
